    COSTI – Brampton is currently accepting registrations for the upcoming Learn Everyday Technology classes, which starts  on Tuesday, July 18 (morning and evening clasess). This training program will help residents living in Peel Region develop digital literacy and essential skills needed for employment and daily life activities. The training also seeks to increase basic language and terminology associated with everyday technology. Classes are held in person and online. In-person classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and online classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The course consists of 25 hours of training over 5 weeks. Chromebooks will be lent to individuals who do not have access to a computer. The Learn Everyday Technology program is available to social assistance recipients, seniors and immigrants.     Centre for Skills offers specialized language training for newcomers preparing to enter the Canadian workplace. This course is designed to improve English language skills and prepare students for success at work. Students will: Learn relevant vocabulary and business idioms. Uncover the basics of effective communication and teamwork. Gain confidence in speaking in front of others by learning how to prepare and deliver professional presentations as well as give and receive feedback. Enhance their written communication skills including how to compose clear and effective email messages Learn the basics of project management and improve their problem solving, planning and organizational skills. Material will include the workplace environment, Canadian corporate culture and the importance of developing cultural intelligence (CQ) in today’s multicultural workplace. Students will also be able to meet with a Career Specialist to learn how to create an effective cover letter and résumé, practice their interview skills, and get connected to employers who are hiring.
