Local Labour Market Plans

Peel Halton Workforce Development Group (PHWDG) is a community based, non-profit corporation. It is one of 25 local boards in the Province of Ontario, funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD).

The Peel Halton Workforce Development Group consists of a volunteer Board of Directors representing business, labour, women, visible racial minorities, educators/trainers and other equity groups.

Its main role in the community is to conduct a highly interactive process that results in the Trends, Opportunities and Priorities (TOP) report. The TOP report serves as a strategic tool for building community partnerships.

Each year PHWDG:

Conducts research to gather information on labour market trends,

Shares findings with the community partners & stakeholders in an accurate way,

Creates a community plan of action in consultation with key partners and stakeholders,

Facilitates collaborative partnerships to address identified labour market issues.

Peel Halton Workforce Development Group is respected as a non-partisan organization working collaboratively with a cross section of partners in the Peel and Halton communities on projects that positively affect labour market issues.

Collaborative Partnerships

Each year we undertake a minimum of four that are intended to act on high priority labour market issues identified at the community consultation meetings. We work on these priorities in collaboration with partners from among our stakeholders who have identified a need to address the specific labour market issue.
